Holiday Tales

Once upon a time, long before the Elf on the Shelf became Santa’s
hear-and-see-all elf there was a little elf called
Panto Pierrot
who became known to all through the lands of Father Christmas as,
the Red Pantry Elf.
Father Christmas lived all by himself in his Toy Castle in the woods.
The castle was hidden among tall pine trees, plants and exquisite wild flowers.
His helpers were the beautiful and nimble forest creatures.
It was on a dark, stormy evening when Father Christmas was on his way home from
the nearby village, that he found Panto Pierrot asleep beneath the biggest pinetree
in the woods. Because Panto was so small and covered with needle branches,
Father Christmas had to look twice at the young elf. Not wanting to wake him
he sat down next to Panto and waited patiently for him to wake up.
When Panto woke up Father Christmas listened carefully to his story.
Panto told him how he had become lost in the forest collecting stones.
Father Christmas thought for a moment and said:
“Panto I need a helper in the toyshop and to keep a list of the
Naughty and Nice children
will you do me the favour and become my Panto Pantry helper?”
Panto was delighted.
Earlier he had been performing pantomime, aka as panto, in the village nearby.
In the meantime the other performers had left the village without him.
He had not known what to do until now.
Together they went to the Toy Castle, whistling and singing along the forest path.
At Christmastide Panto was very busy in the land of Father Christmas where
he would hide in many a kitchen pantry during the day. Each night
he reported to Father Christmas the names of the naughty and nice children.
Happily there were few naughty children to report.
Father Christmas was very pleased with Panto Pierrot.
The Pantry Elf was well liked by young and old.
Every family would hang a Panto Pierrot swag in their living room.
All the children wanted to be good. They would smile and tell each other,
that if you found on December mornings some goodies in the pantry,
it meant you had been good.
The older folks whispered that they heard music playing on December nights.
They were sure it was music used in a Polka Dot Pantomime.
“Curiosity may kill the cat” they said,
“but we want to know.”
They had nothing to worry about…
When they peeked into the pantry they saw the
Red Pantry Elf
performing pantomime. They were absolutely astonished!
Panto Pierrot
would jump out of the pantry and they all would dance the night away.
Each December month they had a jolly
Polka Dot Pantomime time.
With thanks to the makers enjoy:
