It used to be a telephone call or a letter from the postman, that would keep one’s spirits up when you were doing chores in or out of the house, or if you had a boring day and no one to talk to during your retirement.
Nowadays, it’s often a computer who’s your best friend!
And because of the worldwide web there are a lot more ways to keep one’s spirits going when a day turns up that one would rather stay in bed. But who wants to waste a precious retirement day?
The computer has become a trusted friend for many of us, though it can drive you crazy at times when your inbox seems overloaded because you were too busy to pay attention to your incoming mail before the day slipped away. However, for many folks it’s a nice way to keep up with relatives, old friends and colleagues, as well as reading news on line instead of sitting at the table eating breakfast and hiding behind a newspaper.
We get our laughs, admiring the arts, watch an old show on the TV or computer, etc. Often we learn something new on the web while sitting in a chair and we travel to places we might otherwise never have paid attention to. Some seniors even go on to get a degree or learn a new trade or hobby. With a computer at hand at anytime we wish to make use of it we become smarter and are not as lonely or bored as we at times might have been.
Happily retired folks are often too busy gardening or busy with their hobbies. The computer may just be another hobby and entertainment tool for watching an interesting or funny video, playing cards or a unique video game. Not to forget the forwards being send to all who want to share something special with you and to let you know that someone is thinking about you. After all you cannot often go on a vacation to amuse and enrich yourself when you are on a fixed income, although that would be very nice.
This groundhog predicts that the generation that can’t retire until they are at least 70 years of age will find a way to convince the governments of the world to change their minds and after having watched the video here below we have to agree with the wisdom of the groundhog.
‘Cause this is what is to be expected when all have to work until or after 70!
It’s tough but someone will have to do it!
LOL!
