Pilgrimage Sites…

Gypsy Joy.

Catholic Basilicas are Catholic pilgrimage sites
that’s why on this Mother’s Day I like to dedicate this post to Our Lady.

I trust that Our Lady will keep a motherly eye on the Basilica of The Holy Family in Barcelona, Spain.
So Antoni Gaudi’s dream his Barcelona Sagrada Familia for All will finally come true.

The Barcelona Sagrada Familia was designed by the famous

Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi

and declared a Basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.

The Basalica is designed in the Catalan Modernisme style.
This intriguing and stunning art style was influential from 1888 to 1911 and centered on the city of Barcelona.

Although the art style influenced Spanish sculpture, poetry, theatre and painting
it is best known for its architectural expressions by Antoni Gaudi.

Unfortunately the gifted architect passed away in 1926 before the Sagrada Familia was finished.

There is good news!

For the last 25 years plus, the unfinished construction of the Sagrada Familia has been taken up.

Enjoy the completion of the interior and dedication of the Sagrada Familia on:
