December Holidays Around the World…
by
Gypsy Joy.
Around 1821
during the Highland Clearance many Highland Scots emigrated with their families to Christmas Island in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
With Scottish determination and hard work they concurred the land and the ocean as well as the English language, as most of them spoke Gaelic. The Highland Scots succesfully made many new friends, traded goods with the Aboriginals and flourished.
Jolly old Santa loving hard working folks, has grown very fond of the Christmas Islanders as he made years ago, Christmas Island’s Post Office in Canada officially his most cherished Post Office to send
“Christmas Wish letters”
to dear Santa from all over the world.
It’s hard work around Christmas time and the rest of the year for the Christmas Island post clerks and management but their all year round Christmas spirit keeps them merrily going.
The last I heard there is a gentleman waiting near a forest tree on Christmas Island with a stamped Christmas letter in his hand eagerly looking for the bright Christmas Star, so he will spot the Holy Family and the Three Wise Kings passing by.
And I bet…
the Shepherds and their sheep and Santa with his reindeer as well.
Enjoy!
