Inspired by Robert Frost’s 1922 poem title,
“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”
and Justin Trudeau who rephrased the last line of Robert Frost’s poem in
his eulogy at the funeral of his Father the former Canadian prime minister
Pierre Trudeau, on October 3, 2000:
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
He has kept his promises and earned his sleep”

I created the poem here below on April 16, 2012
to honour my beloved husband and young son who both have passed away,
resp. in 2000 and 1988. They both loved nature and animals very much.
Both enjoyed wandering through the Canadian fields and forests.
Their favoured pastime was swimming and diving,
kayaking on the lakes, exploring the woods and feeding the little creatures.
The air invigorated them as they by arrival in cottage country immediately exclaimed:
“What a difference in the quality of air !
So fresh and relaxing; it feels so good to be here!”
Walking in the Stillness
of the Fields and the Woods…
One can hear a bird’s call
while the wind whispers its tune in the fields and the woods.
A dripping waterfall gently sprays its rocky beds.
In the distance an owl hoots.
The majestic forest trees, seem to tell their story of happiness and peace.
While far away on the lake,
a loon happily glides on the water to greet its mate.
It’s not only the pure air and stillness one feels so good; but
God’s and a loved one’s presence
when we are walking in the stillness of the fields and the woods.
