I am a black Labrador and named after the Byzantine Empress Zoe, but you may call me Zoe.
I will tell you more about my Mom and Dad and Kin in another story.
Today I like to tell you about Princess Xena a beautiful German Shepherd who went to Doggy Heaven in 2010 just before I was born. Here she is walking in the deep snow in my mistress first garden.
This picture was taken when Xena was a few years old. I grabbed this photo from Nana’s album! Xena was a regal beauty as you can see. My beautiful mistress named her after Princess Xena the Warrior Princess. Xena was very beloved by my mistress and her family.
Recently, I overheard my sweet mistress chatting with Nana about the amusing critter stories Xena wrote on Nana’s website a number of years ago.
Then and there I decided to ask Nana if she would let me continue the pet writings:
On Nana’s website is an icon at the top of the home page that reads “Blog” and if you click on it you can read all the NEW stories, fairy tales, poems, crafts and other interesting stories Nana has created since the winter of 2012.
All that Nana has written in the beginning of the millennium year is published on the Gypsy Joy website.
Before Nana started her Gypsy Joy wordpress blog Nana blogged new stories, fairy tales, poems etc. on the Yahoo 360 blog. These stories and poems are not yet documented on the website or on her Gypsy Joy blog. Yahoo 360 does not exist anymore.
A pity as Nana’s blog was listed on Yahoo’s Interesting Pages.

Labradors
are usually friendly, pretty chatty and love adventures. We like to walk, run, play, swim and discover new things, keep busy and please our owners.
Some of us, including myself, attend a canine class and meet many interesting characters. Therefore I asked Nana if she would appoint me as a critter-writer. Nana told me that she was very pleased with my idea.
Nana said:
“Being an Empress I was born to Impress.”
I was soooo elated I jumped with excitement and felt like I was on a doggy cloud!
So today, I went to snoop around for a halloween story.
I had a quick peek at my mistress gigantic halloween storage. I did not really want to open a Halloween box but my curious nature got the best of me and when I saw some halloween candies begging to be eaten, I could not resist.
What happened after that made me speechless.
All the halloween spiders one by one jumped out of the halloween box and escaped.
They lined up in regiment fashion and marched down the stairs through the open door into the basement. Now I don’t like basements, they give me the shivers. So for a moment I did not know what to do. I saw spooky eyes watching my every move. In my fantasy I saw the halloween spiders making a circle together and start spinning a gigantic spiderweb.

All of a sudden I got a fabulous idea.
I would do what Sherlock Holmes would do and appoint one of the felines as Dr. John H. Watson.
Watson would chase the escaped halloween spiders back upstairs where I would catch all halloween spiders in a net and neatly put them back into the halloween box.
I grrrrr-ed loudly in delight, which did not really seem to please my mistress or the felines as I was hushed to be quiet.
Adruinna dashed away to hide under the sofa…
Hope jumped to her lookout and haughtily looked down on me…

snapped that since he was a pensioner he would appreciate not to be called up for duties ever again.
So there I was!
Not knowing what to do I just closed the halloween box and now I am hoping for the best. Maybe my mistress will not miss the halloween spiders.
Grrrrr…
For now I am going to dream about a happy halloween with treats for you and me
