Angel Stories

Angels are all around us…
Some guardian angels are also saints.
A few are called archangels;
St. Michael is one of them.
Since I was a toddler I have admired
in many a child’s bedroom a beautiful
picture depicting guardian angels
guiding a young girl and boy.
I purchased once a guardian angel pin.
Not many wear pins or brooches these days.
However, I have always liked pins and
brooches and I keep wearing them.
With St. Patrick’s feast in mind, I thought
how inpressive it is that the first Bishop
of Ireland, a former slave, missionary,
and Ireland’s patron saint,
is so well loved throughout the world.
Anita McSorley’s writings about:
“The St.Patrick You Never Knew.”
Informs us that St. Patrick is Saint of:
Engineers, Ireland and Nigeria.
“Well deserved to be honoured by the people
of Ireland and the downtrodden
and excluded people everywhere.”
Also she quotes Noel Dermot O’Donoughue
who wrote about St. Patrick as:
“the first male Christian since Jesus
to speak well of women”.

Patron saints, too, are guardian angels.
They have been chosen to guard the country
and keep evil away from its citizens.
In the years gone by, remarkable events
have been attributed when people united
in prayer, to save their country from
enemies, famines or disasters.
I do believe in their help and when
in dire need, I will ask God to send
an angel to protect and help.
The angels don’t bring me a pot of gold.
But whenever I need it, God and his angels
and saints keep me going.
I hope that a Guardian Angel may keep you all.
Tune in for more Angel stories
