Hieronymus Bosch 500

It’s a great pleasure to write a few
articles about the famous painter
Hieronymus Bosch
aka Jheronimus and Jeroen (Jerome) Bosch
born in 1450 who passed away on Aug. 9,1516.
Now in 2016, 500 years later, a unique
exhibition of Hieronymus art work and triptychs
is being held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
The city of his birth in the province of
North Brabant has never forgotten and will
never forget their talented and beloved painter.

A large statue on the market square stands
close to the house were Hieronymus was born and
his studio were his paintings were created.
In 1980 called by Nicholas Baum a “Sleepy Town”,
‘s-Hertogenbosch is a vibrant city today.
The seven deadly sins aka cardinal sins:
envy, gluttony, greed, lust,
pride, sloth, wrath,
are portrayed in Hieronymus Bosch’s famous
triptyc of “The Garden of Earthly Delights”.
Called by Dr. Sally Hickson:
“a creation and damnation triptych with a highly
imaginative through-the-looking glass kind of Hell.”
The best expression of Hieronymus Bosch’s
most famous triptych I have read so far.
Hieronymus Bosch, who must have believed in
Heaven and Hell,
must be pleased with the world-wide attention
given to his art this year.
With thanks to the makers, enjoy:
