Gypsy Joy Tales

Never before did I think so deeply about the story behind the Nobel Peace Prizes
until this Sunday morning June 23, 2013 when I watched the Sunday Mass
at 08:30 AM on TVO Toronto, Canada and listened to the inspiring sermon by

Rev. Peter Choi

I did not know the interesting story behind the Nobel Peace Prizes.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel

born in Stockholm Sweden on 21 October, 1833 died in Sanremo
on the Italian Riviera in Italy on Dec. 10, 1896.

In 1888 Alfred Nobel’s brother Ludvig died wile visiting Cannes in France.
His obituary was erroneously stated as

“Alfred Nobel: “the Merchant of dead is death.”

It must have given Alfred Nobel a wakeup chill

as the above statement started him thinking how he would wish to
be remembered after his death for his achievements and inventions during his lifetime
and not just for the invention of chemicals and dynamite for the purpose of mining and war.

As a pacifist Alfred Nobel was against war and violence.

The Nobel Peace Prizes prove his point.
May his soul Rest in Peace!
