Legends and Stork Facts…

Posted by on March 28, 2012

Every fourth Stork in the world is Polish…

Did you know this? I did not till I read somewhere that more White Stork’s nest are found in Poland than in any other country in the world. Now when I see a stork I wonder would this be a Canadian, perhaps Dutch or really a Polish stork or could this be a multicultural stork???  One thing is sure, I will never know and Dr. Doolittle is nowhere to be found when you need him.

Poland, like most countries, has interesting and entertaining legends and one in particular I remember is the story that is pretty much in sync with the legend about King Arthur who is said to be asleep deep in a cave in Glastonbury Tor in England.

In Poland it’s King Boleswa also known as “The Brave”, who for centuries sleeps with his knights in a dark huge cavern of the gigantic Giewont mountain in the Polish Tatra National Park. The mountain has three peaks; Small Giewont, Great Giewont and Long Giewont.  It’s there where King Boleswa with his knights all Mounted on their horses, with swords, bows and lances forever are lying-in-waiting ready to defend Poland and save the nation. BUT, someone must awake them and once they are on their mission, they will never return.

Where is Poland one may ask? If you really don’t know this hilarius video has the answer.
