You have the ultimate excuse
And your intelligent canine
Is sure to overlook your antics, too.
Your loyal pet would rather be
Roaming free
With you in a forest or field
Than walking on a leash and yield
But just to please you he will joyfully wag its tail
And continue walking along like a snail.
Be they tall or small, young or old
They may bark but will do as told
And be just as loving and sweet
As if you had given them a tasty treat
So strong is their attachment to you
They are fun and teach us patience, too.
