Los Angeles Cathedral’s name is in
character with the city named in 1781:
“El Pueblo de nuestra Senora,
Regina de los Angeles.”
The Town of
Our Lady, Queen of the Angels.
Today the Los Angeles Cathedral serves
over 5 million Roman Catholics.
The new Cathedral of Our Lady of the
Angels stands proudly in the middle of a
buzzling downtown area, where the wind
caresses the cathedral’s tall trees,
hugging Our Lady of the Angels modern
structure of the new Cathedral with
a fountain element outside and its
artful and magnificent cathedral interior.
The baroque stained glass windows and
lunettes were made in Germany around 1920.
The relics of St. Vibiana and tilmàtli ((tilma)
a piece of cloth of Our Lady of Guadalupe
are enschrined at the Cathedral.
A very famous tilmàtli was the one worn by
Juan Diego in 1531.

Citizens and visitors alike come and go.
It is the only church encouraging people
to drop in at their convenience.
The Los Angeles Cathedral in California
is always open to embrace all who enter.
A real jewel of church hospitality.
An other remarkable feature is the Mausoleum
where 1275 full casket spaces and 4794 urn
spaces for burials are available to all.
The Mausoleum is the only structure
in the world where the opportunity for
interment is available to all.
