Religious Festivities
By
Gypsy Joy.
On March 19th it was St. Joseph Day.
While watching the Daily Mass on Vision TV I was reminded that St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of
Canada.
A Saint, seldom mentioned in a sermon, although many churches bear his name. In his lifetime St. Joseph played an important role in the life of Jesus and the Holy Virgin as the protector and provider of the Holy Family.
Many years ago in most Christian homes, a St. Joseph statue was displayed among their favorite Roman Catholic statues.
St. Joseph kept families happily together.
A bit of glory is given to St. Joseph at Christmas time as a Nativity scene would not be complete without St. Joseph.
By serendipity I once found out that St. Joseph plays an important role in real estate in North America. To receive his blessings families selling or buying a house often bury or place a St. Joseph statue near the entrance or in the garden on their property that is for sale, or on or near the property they intend to buy. As the picture here below, which I received from a friend a number of years ago who was selling his house, shows us.
The latter reminded me of the remarkable story and the fervent prayers to St. Joseph by the Loretto Sisters and their students in New Mexico in the U.S.A. , who got their heart-wish for the circular stairway of their Loft in the Loretto chapel in Santa Fe in 1878.

A lot has happened during the years. The miraculous stairs are still function and many are visiting the Loretto chapel. The world is still in awe about the building of the staircase in 1878.
In honour of St. Joseph I hope you will enjoy:
