Spring Flu…
During cold, drizzly and windy days in May
I tended to my garden almost every day
Flowers rewarded me with their fragrant smell
Making me feel content and optimistic as well.
Then on the last Tuesday in May
A bit of disaster was thrown my way
The Spring flu bug
Embraced me with a tight hug.
The next 4-1/2 days I was in aches and pains
Feverish and seemingly soaked by floods and rains
Waking up from strange dreams in a pool of perspiration
I wondered about this Spring Flu consternation.
It’s the 5th day and better days lie ahead
Though today I slowly tread
I have been able to keep in tune
Most of the day on this 1st day of June.
I miss greeting the flowers, plants and hugging a tree
But looking through my window I see
The flowers and branches gaily sway in the breeze
And the birds exuberantly whistling in the trees.
Sunday I will venture outside
And if all will go alright
The Spring Flu bug will be faraway
When I resume my morning walk come Monday or Tuesday.
