Project

Empty  Bottles.

penguin_dancing

When I opened the refrigerator in the beginning of November 2012 I noticed a whole carton full of tiny  bottles had invaded the middle shelf during the night. All morning my brain kept nagging me  “What am I going to do with all these empty bottles later on?”

I know how to turn

empty coffee jars or empty cookie tins and some other empty recycables into attractive keepsakes or give-aways.

BUT,

little bottles never before slipped so stubbornly into my creative mind begging to be made use of. The bottles kept rattling each time when I opened the fridge. Finally, I could not stand it anymore and I did a web search to avoid the bottle headache I felt coming on. Visions of all the penguin, snowman and other Christmas decorations I have made as well as the decos I saw recently in many decorated stores, and in magazines, popped into my head.

Instead of paint and or craft foam you can also use other material that may be at hand e.g. black and white felt or an old black sock for the back and an old white sock for the front to cover the bottle. Use felt scraps in black or white for the eyes, depending if you are going to give the penguin a white or black face. Use black for the flippers (wings) and hat, white for the vest and orange for the beak and feet. Or you could make a blue fairy penquin. Check Wiki for the real blue fairy penquins. They are soooo cute!

Before you start making a penguin though look at penguin pics.

Other options: a Snowman!

If making a snowman use a white old sock that you pull over the plastic bottle, black felt scraps for the eyes and hat, orange or red felt for the nose and scarf, black felt for the mouth and buttons.

To make the snowman rounder add crumpled newspaper, fabric or other filling underneath the sock before pulling and stitching the sock at the top and bottem of the bottle. Do the same for the hat or cap. Glue a tiny selfmade broom to the body or add arms and carefully pierce a hole in each side of the bottle to place a thin, short tree branch or try to add arms as shown on the little gif pic.

Enjoy your craft time with the youngsters, bazaar friends or when home alone.

Come back from time to time.

I intend to make a bottle craft(s) myself as soon as I have more free time and will post it here and on facebook.
