Shih Poo Tales
By
*Little Lion*
Also known as:
Hullo Gals and Lads!
Soon I may look like this photo again!
Without the sweater as it’s summer now.
But that’s getting ahead!
Grrrrr…
What’s new?
It seems I’m starting
a rabies tag collection.
For 3 years my rabies tag was
a heart coloured red.
Now the tag has changed its shape.
The colour changed, too,
from red to silver. :)
Canada’s 149th birthday was a lovely event.
We enjoyed the starry night
and a bit of the fireworks
as well the TV buzz & commentators.
Next year will be the greatest anniversary!
This week…
Thursday, July 7th was a great adventure.
I went to see the new vet.
The mistress was more nervous than I.
Grrrrr… I am with Shakespeare!
“We are small but fierce.”
~William Shakespeare~
The mistress loves me to pieces
Yeah… yeah… yeah!
You know the Beatles song…
We met the Vet’s German Shepherd.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Shepherd
We liked the pooch very much.
A beautiful, friendly, white Shepherd.
The young mistress likes German Shepherds.
She knows how to handle and train them.
Guess what…
the new Vet titled me:
Shi-poo!
Shi stands for Shih Tzu but all
who know me are flabbergasted
where the “poo” stands for.
We assume, for “poodle”.
I have a very thick black curly coat
and a white curly chest.
Perhaps, my ancestry has
a mysterious past.

On the following link
you can see pictures of Shih-Poos.
:) Some look like me!

“Anyhoo!”
(My borrowed expression for anyhow)
We got through the visit
to the vet with flying colours.
But when we got home we ran right
into a starry night adventure.
Wait till I tell this to cousin Djerull!
He will relish the story.
Gee where is the telephone?
I must leave him a quick message!
Back again… woof…woof where
was I with my vet adventure?
Oh, yes! In short:
After our home-coming
we found the screendoor locked!
This made that we could not get inside
and therefore had to spent the rest
of the afternoon and
possible evening & night outdoors,
waiting till we spotted
the lad upstairs to open up!
And that’s exactly what happened!
The screen door is like a double door
and can’t be opened from the outside.
Imagine with two house keys in the
mistress handbag and a hidden key,
we still could not get inside!
Thus it became a game counting sheep
and the mistress keeping wide awake.
I was the lucky one, there was water
to drink and I could doze off
on my mistress lap.
The night was pretty quiet with only
one or two invaders trying to pass .
I re-routed their walk with a fierce grrrrr…
Danger gone I went back to dreamland.
Take it from me guys and gals,
there is nothing better than body heat,
a warm shawl borrowed from a good friend,
your mistress lap and a starry night!
At 5:30 am, Friday July 8th
we finally spotted
the lad walking into the kitchen.
We both were soooo excited!
The mistress tapped loudly on
the patio doors and wonder above wonder
the lad noticed us!
He got a shock when he heard our story.
He had not heard the doorbell
ringing loudly nor the tapping
on the glass door earlier
or calling his name,
and had the ringer off on the telephone,
so he could work better and enjoy
some loud music.
Huh… uh… was the comment
of many that Friday morning
who had left messages for us.
The mistress just laughed.
She was relieved nothing had happened.
The lad could have been ill
or had a fall during our absence.
He is too young for a “Life Line”
the famous actress
Betty White
recommends in a TV commercial.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_White
We felt safe during our ordeal.
as well I got some neat walks
under the starry night.
The mistress said, she felt pretty safe
with me at her side. :)
Between 4:00 am and 6:00 am the birds
presented us with a large concert.
The mistress was delighted.
I felt a bit taken aback!
She restricted my hunting instinct!
Grrrrr… Grrrrr!
Sometime after 6:00 am we went to sleep
to be woken up around 9:30 am by a call
from the vet that my blood test
was good and I could take my
monthly “heartguard” medication.
I have no bad reaction despite
of the many vaccinations.
The next step will be the fur coat shaving!
Anyhoo, that’s another adventure in store.
Thereafter we had breakfast and
the mistress replied to the
telephone calls and called the
young mistress who is adventurous
by nature. We, too, make a good team. :)
The three of us had a good laugh.
Grrrrr… it made me happy!
I rolled over and over on the carpet.
Late in the afternoon
the mistress needed a nap.
This was lucky for me as the lad
took me out for a long walk.
I got wet because
we finally had a bit of rain.
We need rain badly,
the grass looks like straw!
I was on my LOOK-OUT post for a bit.
I thought that I had lost a bit of respect
from the birds, felines and squirrels,
because of the mistress and her
hunting restrictions in the morning.
However, I thought about it as
it was an exceptionally calm day.
I did not see many trespassers.
Perhaps, they finally know who is
the boss around here!
Well friends, that was the story of
my adventure this week.
Hope you, too, had an adventurous week.
Winter is still far away, but
freshly baked pie is delicious
anytime of the year,
especially if it’s baked in the sky :).
Tune in again next Saturday!
My mistress sends you her greetings
and wishes everyone a lovely weekend.
You should hear more from her next week.
With thanks to the makers enjoy:
