The Magic of the Christmas Wish List…

December Holidays Around the World…

by

Gypsy Joy.

There once was a Canadian German Shepherd

who on a Christmas Eve  had gone into the farmer’s stable to keep watch as she wanted to see Santa’s sleigh land from the sky. But she was very tired from all the running around to help the farmer with his sheep and other farming work. Soon she fell in a deep sleep dreaming of the little children’s Christmas Wish wondering whether Santa would be able to fulfill the children’s

only

Christmas wish on their Christmas list.

When Santa arrived at the farm

he stepped into the stable to greet the sweet German Shepherd and to ask her to keep watch of his sleigh and the reindeer while he was delivering presents to the farmhouse. Seeing the sweet German Shepherd sound asleep at the footend of the empty manger in the hay, Santa chuckled softly. He quietly left the stable to tell his deer they would have to watch the sleigh and not wander around the farm and not make any noise so as not to wake anyone.

The deer promised to be good. So Santa climbed through the chimney into the farmhouse to leave goodies and toys for the little girls and boys. But, when Santa checked the children’s wish list he noticed that all the farmer’s children wished to get for Christmas was to bring them

“Sweet, Baby Jesus”

and to put the baby in the empty manger in the stable.

Santa scratched his long white  beard

he was not sure if he could fulfill the holy baby wish. For good cheer he filled their stockings with goodies and put other toys, books, crayons, a pair of new skates beneath the splendid Christmas tree and new clothes for all including the farmer and his wife and farmer hands. Santa did not forget the animals either. For the dog and cats there were tasty treats, sugar cubes for the horses and other tasty tidbits for the cows, chickens, hens and pigs, seeds for the birds and nuts for the squirrels.

Then he looked around and went into the attic

where he found a torn Christmas box with in it an old but beautiful statue of baby Jesus. Delighted Santa rushed out of the farmer’s house and tiptoed into the stable where the sweet German Shepherd was still sound asleep at the foot of the empty manger. Gently Santa lay the statue of baby Jesus into the manger surrounded with tufts of hay.

 The sweet German Shepherd

moved a little bit in his sleep. So as to keep baby Jesus warm Santa thought, and whispered softly to the holy baby:

“She will keep ya’ warm, sweet baby Jesus”

and to the sweet German Shepherd Santa whispered:

“sweet dreams, sweetie and a merry Christmas.

I left you some doggie treats in the farmer’s house and now I am ready to leave as quiet as a fieldmouse.”

As Santa tiptoed out of the stable to his sleigh and waiting reindeer,

one of the farmer’s children awoke just in time to see Santa’s sleigh climbing higher and higher into the sky. The little boy still feeling sleepy was not sure if he was dreaming.

When the farmer’s children woke up early Christmas morning

and found their presents in their stockings and beneath the tree, they felt happy and a bit sad because they thought that Santa had not been able to fulfill their deepest and only wish for Christmas. Their Mom, trying to cheer them up said: “sweethearts why don’t you go into the stable and bring our German Shepherd into the house, Santa brought her some doggie treats.”

The little children dreaded their walk to the stable.

But, when they went into the stable they all jumped for joy. There lay, jolly and bright, the little baby Jesus in the manger with their sweet German Shepherd asleep at the footend, keeping the holy baby warm.

 The children overwhelmed with joy

ran immediately back to the farmhouse to tell their parents all about

the Magic of their Christmas Wish List.
