Reflections on Lent
By
Gypsy Joy.
The joy of spring we carry in our hearts during the 6 weeks that lead us from Ash Wednesday to Easter.
Ash Wednesday
does not have to be seen as the dreaded 6 weeks of fasting, praying and meditating till Easter arrives. Nor giving up something entirely that you normally enjoy doing and is not harmful to anyone.
Lent
stands for new beginnings.
Pope Francis
has given the world recently a “Gift of Lent”, by opening the Garden of Castel Gandolfo in Vatican City, to the public for their enjoyment.

We can do things for others or ourselves that do not require wealth. Few people in today’s world can be classified as being wealthy.
The colour purple
we see displayed everywhere during the weeks of Lent remind us of the joy of Easter, the church and royalty. Unfortunately also of sorrow and abuse. As this is so clearly indicated to us by
The Holy Cross and the Purple Ribbon.

As we contemplate on the Purple Ribbon, environment, hunger, illness, nature and wars during Lent we will, with the Power of the Creator of Heaven and Earth find ways to make the world a better, happier and safer place for others and our loved ones.
May you always carry, especially during sorrow and suffering
God’s Glory
and beauty of all seasons and His promise to all, in your heart.
