The Tiffany Fairies Canadian Thanksgiving…

A “Bewitching Waterfall Tale”

A Canadian Thanksgiving Tale.

“Have you ever wondered why the Tiffany Waterfall seems more alluring than any of the other Hamilton, Ontario, waterfalls on a night when mere mortals illuminate the falls?” asked a dressed up squirrel on her way to a Thanksgiving party in the woods near the falls when she met a turkey on the run who yelled at her: “I’m outta’ here, It may be turkey day for all of you but it’s a day to hide for folks like me!”

To You,  but NOT to me… Good Day!

And as quick as a flash of lichtning the turkey sped away, leaving the pilgrim squirrel speechless. As she thought about the sparkling beauty of the Tiffany waterfall and the “Tiffany Fall and Cascade” Fairy Folks who make their home in that part of the forest of Hamilton’s splendor of 150 plus waterfalls and sparkling cascades, she soon felt merry again.

“Turkey on the run you will be missing The Thanksgiving Hula Hula dance and the pretty Hawaiian fairies who have flown over to the Tiffany Falls to celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving,”  she said aloud as she turned around.

The turkey was too far away to hear it.

The beautiful Tiffany fairies are related to the Cottingley Fairies.

A number of them are also distant cousins from Walt Disney’s “Peter Pan and Tinkerbell” and the Pikake (Arabian Jasmine) flower fairies from Hawaii. If you would spot the Tiffany fairies on your visit to the Hamilton waterfalls, the charming fairies could tell you a lot of stories about their troubles and victories of living by the falls in the nearby forest where Jerome the Sleeping Giant also makes his home. While the Tiffany fairies were having the best of times with their Pikake fairy cousins, the Hawaiian drums woke up the sleeping giant who was not amused.

 No sirree!

Jerome the Sleeping Giant was boiling mad and roared like thundering wind in a heavy storm. He became so very cross with the musicians and the dancing and singing fairies that even the fairy wands could not perform their magic to calm the giant.

Jerome threatened to empty the falls and cascades and to keep drinking the falling and trickling water till there was no water left. The fairies begged him not to do this as he would drink himself into a coma, but Jerome could not be persuaded to change his mind. The Tiffany fairies, decided instantly to get in touch with a clever halloween witch, who told them to stew a potent nettle brew. To have a lasting effect on the giant the Tiffany fairies had to hand-pick immediately the plants that grew around the Tiffany waterfall. Meanwhile the halloween witch with help from a sorcerer would search for the best magic sleep lullaby  and several witches would boil the fresh hand-picked plants in their cauldrons.

Though it was a full moon that night, the waterfall needed to be kept illuminated else the magic would not work, while the guitar players needed to keep playing magical tunes and the hula hula dancers should keep on dancing. However, seeing and hearing all this fairy joy made the sleeping giant keep on roaring and swallowing the water of the Tiffany waterfall as quickly as he could.

It was a sight the fairies would not soon forget.

One of the Hawaiian fairies suddenly got an idea to show a movie on a giant screen close to the Tiffany waterfall to divert the giant’s thoughts and slow down his water drinking. “Many mere mortals love watching movies” she said, “let’s try it perhaps they fascinate Jerome the Sleeping Giant as well.”

As if struck by

the beautiful Blue fairy’s  magic dust

the giant stopped drinking from the Tiffany waterfall all through the movie

giving the Tiffany fairies and the halloween witches enough time to pick the nettle plants, brew the potion and serve the giant many, many glasses of the warm concoction, while the Hawaiian fairies did their hula hula dance around Jerome. It made the giant extremely sleepy although he kept trying to keep one eye open and the other shut. After awhile Jerome the Sleeping Giant could no longer keep his eyes open and he fell in a deep and long sleep.

Everyone sighed with relief!

However, the troubles for the fairy folks and the witches had not completely vanished. Now they had to find out how to move Jerome back to his part of the forest so he would never know what had happened when he would wake up. Happily the Warlocks living around the falls knew exactly how to move a giant back to his nook in the forest.

And so,

Jerome the Sleeping Giant

was soon safely back in his own quarters and all the creatures, fairies, witches and warlocks living at and around the Tiffany Falls were able to celebrate the Canadian Thanksgiving that year in peace.

It is rumoured that the sleepy giant since that eventful evening is still fast asleep.

On rare occasions he wakes up to eat a huge meal and falls back to sleep again.

Absolutely nothing seems to bother him anymore, not even the drums.  All he really wants is just to sleep and dream about the hula hula dancers.

Nevertheless,

the Tiffany fairies are keeping a watching fairy eye over Jerome, the sleeping Giant of the Tiffany Falls!

THE END.
