Paper Mache Paper Mache
Thy be only a heartbeat away
Let’s have fun on this 70th birthday
With a pretty blue Pinata swaying away
Is it a difficult task
I hear you ask
I tell ya’
This one is an easy to make Pinata.
Let’s begin with the fun
And give it a sparkling star run
To make a Pinata with speed
All you will need
Is a brown paper bag tall
From the grocery at the Mall
And a bottle of glue
Any size will do.
Candies and light trinkets are swell
A hole punch and card cut-outs as well
Plus blue-as-the-sky and white-as- the-clouds tissue paper
And lots of crumpled up newspaper
Scissors, a stapler, yarn or string
And you are ready to begin
Steady your hand and smile
This Pinata is flying across the mile.
How to make this speedy Pinata:
Open the brown grocery bag, grab the candies and light trinkets
let them fly to the bottom or put the goodies in fancy birthday bags.
If there is space left in the bag crumple old tissue paper or newspaper to fill it up.
Leave a big enough space at the top to double fold the top of the bag where you will punch the hole.
It makes the pinata sturdy so it will not tear when you hang it from the ceiling.
Staple the fold and with the hole punch make a hole in the middle and put your string through it.
The length of the string will depend from where you will hang your Pinata.
Remember that you will need a bit of space to bat the Pinata.
Use one or two tissue sheets to decorate each section and each side of the bag.
For example use a section or sections of the blue-as-the-sky and white-as-the-clouds tissue paper.
Crumple them a bit horizontal as well as vertical and glue to the top below the hole.
Add as many tissue creations you need to cover the brown bag.
Cover the empty space by the double fold by the hole with cut-outs from old birthday cards.
Or cut several layers of tissue paper, crumple and glue them on one at a time.
Find a bat suitable to break the fancy birthday Pinata during the party.
A hockey stick will certainly do the trick.
A fly swatter or spatula will be gentlier.
